Thanks, Sean and mooblie.
Good read on VR301 Sean -- indeed, that's at the edge of the circuit
board right by the balance knob. The only pots that look promising on
the board are the yellow 5k ohm VR305 and VR306. In the schematic, VR306
is to the right of the motor for the volume knob, in horiz
Never mind, the inversion option is only on Transporter.
Another thing to try is to test if it's a timing or performance issue.
Try turning the spectrum visualizer on and off, and see if that affects
the behavior.

No This 6dB per bit stuff, is about all linear encoding. Every
additional bit of information, buy's you an extra 6dB of signal to noise

Don't even worry about an external DAC. With what you have the one on
the SB3 is fine. Use the money on speakers and a receiver, amp setup.
You have to have a pretty top notch system before upgrading the dac will

I seriously doubt that Sean would ever have said such a thing.

Exactly.
The 24-bit control in the TP/SB3/Receiver is very good.
This 6dB per bit stuff is all about 16-bit not 24!!!
Don't sweat it. The best sound you will g
Yes, it's in the same enclosure as the DAC.

There was a long thread a couple of years ago which concluded - I
believe Sean confirmed it though I couldn't now swear to that - that
reducing the volume of the SB's digital outputs below about 90 per
cent also significantly degraded audio quality. It starts throwing
other bits away, I see
