Has anybody done this, and experienced any type of resulting software
errors or issues etc? I'm wondering if it's possible the server
software (or the device firmware) might act up or produce any

I don't know how you identify "towers" but Audience 72 from Dynaudio
look like the average small tower and go deep to 28.
Since they are 2.5 ways with odd impedance, you will need a little more
amp.
Unusually, "band" amps of about 200 Wpc are not expensive and offer
very good frequency and rise

Why would you do that? If you want balanced, you should have gear with
balanced connections and use proper balanced cables and connectors.
There is a reason that the J

Modern Dell computer with HDMI out from video and "stock" sound card.
HDMI now plays iTunes to external HDMI receiver. Tunes are Apple
lossless from CD. The user wants to move to SBS.
Please compare the software playback options SoftSqueeze and
Squeezeplay to the current setup. Are there others?

Michael,
That's *exactly* what I have been suggesting you try.

Is it possible to use Transporter with DEQ2496 in a loop as
Transporter (AES/EBU Digital Out) -> DEQ2496 (AES/EBU Digital Out) ->
Transporter ?
Does it work well?

Robin,
Working with SPDIF will introduce jitter.
Also (or same), once I for curiosity fed music into SPDIF digital input
of Transporter, and result was far worse then when using normally
