I sell the LAvry DA10 over here in Australia and inevitably many people
want to connect to non balanced rca inputs. I have found no problem
whatsoever with the adapters, or any particular sonic degradation.

ral, in most(if not all) setups tubes
change the input signal (distort it) and output different signal, to me
this is not hifi.
However i do accept that many place musicality above accurate
reproduction, i am in the accuracy camp, everyone is entitled to their
opinion and choice, you will
metres. Definitely use the TP direct to a power
amp if you can, at the price there is next to nothing that can beat it.
The transparancy and immediacy is just amazing.

I also have the Constantine DAC, for the price excellent value, but to
me is very laid back sound and not very dynamic.

, but I am yet to here personally in my own
system so will reserve judgement till, then.
The Transporter is a considerable jump up over the SB3 sound
qualitywise but the tonality is similar to the SB3 although I would say
it has moved closer to your preferences.
Hope this helps.

I wonder if it is my room starting put it's footprint on the sound. I
would be interested to hear others thoughts here.
If you can live without analog in's the Transporter makes an excellent
preamp/dac/transport com

speakers. Unfortunately I don't think the Transporter is robust
enough to handle being a preamp at the moment. I am hoping this is a
software thing and can be fixed. The Transporter sounds absolutely
brilliant direct to the power amp.

will have a Belcanto DAC3 to play with soon (I am a
Belcanto/Lavry/Benchmark/Zu/NuForce/Slim Devices Dealer in Sydney
Australia) I have been told this is excellent DAC and outshines the
DAC2 (it should do at the price.)
I have a Belcanto DAC2(240v) for sale if anyone is interested.

a sensitivity of 101db and whilst the volume control on the Transporter
brings the volume down sufficiently I am worried that taking it down to

pretty good too but the RFI interference is really bad on the REF9's.

I am interested in this too. Living in an apartment room correction I am
sure will benefit me, I remember reading on here once about the
possibility of using room correction on a PC before sending the digital
signal to the sb3/transporter... don't know what happened with this.
--
some education guy's why does the signal begin to deteriorate?
I assume for the highest quality you are best to disable the digital
volume control and use an external amp to boost/lower the signal?

http://www.audioengineusa.com/ . They are powered and the Squeezebox
can plug directly into them. Still the speakers require one power
cable and one speaker cable from one speaker to another and the
Squeezebox requires a power cable too. IPOD and airport
ls used bad packets normally get re sent this does not happen
for the spdif connections we are talking about.

As a full solution I would rate the Squeezebox as a good quality mid

it's flexibility and user friendly features.

replies coming, i would like to get an indepth understanding.
One more question is FLAC decoded by the server on the PC or in
hardware (or firmware?) on the SB3 unit.

?
Also when the flac file is transmitted either wirelessly or via
ethernet cable, do network protocols ensure the file is bit perfect
when it reaches the SB3?
