Even though AudioEngine's FAQ says the opposite is true, when connecting
their D1 DAC to a Touch it does so in ASYNCH mode as witnessed by the
fact that you can watch the instantaneous sample rate cycle flip back
and forth between too much and too little. I can tell you that this DAC
performs sign

I recommend you get one by any means possible!

see an amplifier that nearly or actually doubles its rated
WPC into 4 Ohms vs. 8 Ohms, since this implies both low output
impedance of the amplifier and the power supply headroom to make use of
that control.

I am glad you are enjoying your new hand-made LFD amplifier to the point
that you are recommending it to forum members!
When you mention kick-ass bass, how much of that should I attribute to
the REL Acoustics R305 in your sig? Also, how have you connected the
sub to the LFD?

just a little scared that the Wyred4Sound amps can sound a little edgy

Lately, with my Rega DAC in the system I now have the most enjoyable
sound I ever I had in my modest system. The Rega DAC has settled in to
an unforced, rich and musically involving sound that will keep me
satisfied in the digital source department for the forese
the Wyred4Sound
DAC2 if I could have auditioned one for a few weeks, but I was afraid of
another extremely detailed but ultimately unmusical experience, with no
easy way to reverse the purchase decision.

An alternative diagnostic would be to load the lossless files on an
iPOD touch or iPhone that has the latest IOS, and use Airplay to stream

sift through, even for those of us who do very much like to think for
ourselves.
