internet radio, that's for sure :)

I suspect hundreds of amp manufacturers might have a problem with this
concept.
On reflection, perhaps I'm not as far off topic as I thought :)

The comments on the article are fascinating. They really illustrate the
point that the best sound is the sound you like the best. Why else do
valve amps exist?

They may not work as well in your living room.

I suspect you will still have to make a recess in the wall, but parhaps
you could remove the chrome tubing stand bit.

Regarding your second question about pwered speakers, a lot of people on
this forum recommend the Audioengine 5

I can't comment as I haven't heard them. I can't find anyone in this
city who stocks them.

I'm not sure about the women angle, but I often find music sounds better
when I'm on my own at night, in low light.
As is often said in this forum, enjoyment of music is a subjective
thing. Different people prefer different speakers, DACs etc. Being in
the right mood also helps.

rom outside is enough to cause that reboot...
I know just what you mean. If I listen to speakers at hifi stores for
too long, they all start to sound the same :)

They are - in fact the 640 is highly thought of in it's price range.
Personally I prefer the NAD sound, but I suspect I'm in the minority in
this forum.

er, with a very smmoth, natural
midrange and top end. I'm interested in hearing the Quad 12L when they
arrive, to see if they are significantly better than the 11L.
Has anyone heard or owned any of these speakers?

I refuse to believe that these people are serious. If they actually
turn up at shows with this stuff they must be just taking the joke to

Balanced with what?
I'm waiting for a Monica 2 DAC to arrive ATM. It only has RCA

I recently compared the CA Azur 540 v2 with a NAD c320BEE and didn't
find much difference between them. The NAD sounded a bit more forward,
and the CA had a bit more detail in the bass. I ended up with the NAD.
I'd love to hear a T-amp sometime - I'm curious.

A NAD C320BEE was also on ebay. My wife, uncharacteristically,
suggested that I spend the extra money on a better amp, so I did :)

Of course, I could always just get a T-amp :)

I have a Luman L4 amp that I bought in 1980, which I'm pretty sure I can
still get repaired by at least one hifi dealer here in Perth.
I'm sure there are lots of better amps around, but I suspect I'd have
to spend serious money to get much improvement.

Good point - it's all rather old. The leads and speaker (monster) cable
are as old as the amp - a Luxman L4 I bought in 1980. I'll check and
maybe replace them.

ahead of those in the Yamaha.
Which leads me to the question - How do the DACs in the SB1 compare to
those in the SB2/3 ?
Thanks
