Get some JBL control 1 speakers, and any small good Amp. If you can
solder, have a look at these Kits: http://www.41hz.com/
I have two Model 6 basic amps running, and they're brillaint!

SMPS makes
quite a difference.
You can box the SMPS in a standard Euro-Board aluminium enclosure.
Cheers,
Tobi.

Nah!
CD's days are over. Ipods have taken over the subways and parks, now
something has got to do the same at home. They're trying to step in
there...

Careful Adam,
I did the same, and sold the TP again. It has no soul compared to a
ShekDac.
But you're right, the ShekDac isn't perfect either...
We'll have to wait and see what else comes along.

@sonofcolin
I just have to ask:
1) It's P9 isn't it? (Who cares for SBs with a deck like that)
2) You gave away the Harbeths for Dynaudios
Tobi.
Simon,
which DAC chip is in there? Pictures on the homepage are to small for
recognition...
Have fun listening,
Tobi.
PS: Happy with my ShekDac

Kitchen Harbeths are already decadent, but I sure hope that Chinese amp
is not a Tube Amp?!?

Maybe that's why the TP has a digital in...
You can use your cheap DVD Player for CD and get good results while the
software stuff is down!

It's obvious, but you never know:
Did you make sure the digital output of the SB3 is activated at all?

course the dynamic range is far reduced with the Nos DAC, but I
have a feeling that's more down to the SB3.

Topa.

l DAC! I was
talking about the sole SB3 with analogue out!
I have a Densen Amp here, with Linn KanII speakers. Presently, I am
also using a DAC (NOS by Derek Shek) to make the SB3 listenable, and am
gathering information wether to buy a Benchmark or Lavry DAC or go for
the Transporter.
t all, and
narrows down the dynamic range of the (already narrowed down) original
CD. And that is exclusivly using FLAC here.

The review is spot on with what I feared:
The Transporter being thin & uninvolving instead of musical. Basically
same as the SB3 only even more detail.

Radiohead & White Stripes sounding good ist exactly what I needed to
know. It's important that not only hi-end bing-bang jazz works with
these dacs, but also real down to earth good music.
Thanks!
Topa.

Have you noticed any differences in how the Lavry or TP handle bad or
noisy recordings or even lossy files like MP3? Is Hard Rock equally
enjoyable as Jazz?
Regards, Topa.
