If you have trouble with broadcast reception, try looking up the local
station on the internet and see if they stream their audio. If they do
you can enter the uRL into slimserver and you'll be able to listen to
the local station via your SB3.

whereas the CD players will sound pretty much the same. This is true
for amplifiers and preamps, too. This is why I suggest you put the

This is already done daily. Go to alt.binaries.sounds.lossless on
usenet. You'll find tons of .flac and .ape lossless files, sometimes
they are even tagged correctly...
You will have to make your own decision about the morality of the

I had an old ZIP disc drive that had a wallwart nearly identical to the
SB3 wallwart. It was one of the parallel port connected 100 MB stiffy
disc drives. Look for one on ebay...

Hum is a low frequency phenomena. It is more likely to be caused by
improper grounding than by a squeezebox radiating at 2.4 GHz. Make
sure that your preamp and turntable are grounded together.

The analog VU meter is definitely NOT accurate in terms of the levels
