I'm surprised no one has mentioned room treatment. I'm not surprised that in a room that small that music gets garbled. You want to treat at least the first reflection points behind the speakers and on the side walls. Atsacoustics makes some nice inexpensive acoustic panels. -- Daverz --

Thanks very much for the suggestion Pski. I hadn't considered a sub. Unfortunately the price for the Micro-V is well out of my budget at £800. I wonder whether anyone has any experience of the new EPOS Epic. Manufacturer suggests they can be placed up to 10cm away from the wall? Cheers Nwlcox -
