What a great opportunity for Logitech to send Mr Leigh a brand spanking
new TP so he can run his Audio DiffMaker tests on it as it "burns
in"...

Hey everyone,
I was the original poster and just checked back now... Really
interesting to read all of your opinions. I definitely believe that I
have heard burn in on many electronic devices that have no moving
parts. In the same way that amps take time to "warm up", this warming

I'm as skeptical as the next person about "burn-in" in general. However
I do think that there are some exceptions that merit pointing out. One
such being Black Gate capacitors that I've used many times in DIY valve
amps as cathode bypass caps. These particular caps do appear to change

As a 91% skeptic, I agree with Themis that almost ALL highly regarded
manufactures claim some kind of in-factory burning process, not to say
the "critics" in the industry, which in most reviews mention the B
word.

Who needs a 2000$ Transporter to listen to music anyway ? :p

True, but without the machine, I get to wash the clothes by hand. Down
by the river on the rocks. Which will take up all the time that I would
be using to listen to

In my house, when the wife wants a new washing machine, she gets it. And
it doesn't allow me to buy stuff to evaluate if burning is needed.
She has t

Best post I've read in a while Gandt ! That's exactly what happens to
me too ^^
And I'm convinced that burn-in has a very limited effect (there might
be one or not, I don't know), but it sure takes some time to get used
to new hardware and enjoy it fully.

often quite flat and lifeless. Only after repeated refreshing over a

Really? Who in the industry was saying that?
There's no doubt - and I'm very skeptical there ever was - that speaker

It should be burned in by the time the sound waves reach your ears.

A few years ago, when some of us were saying that speakers require
burn-in, most of the industry were saying that all this is nonsense.
Some years (and measures) later, the same people seem to agree that
-after all- there is some burn-in involved.
Some peoples' opinion need burn-in. :)

Audio electronics do not burn in in any remotely perceptible way. Your
brain, on the other hand, perceives things very differently depending
on all kinds of factors...
If there's a lack of bass, move your speakers closer to the wall. Or
pour yourself a glass of scotch.

There is no reason for electronics to require break-in. People who
design the gear and their parts want to select materials that DO NOT
change over time. In case they do, its only for the worse (like
elecrolytic capacitors).
Speakers do break in, but according to loudspeaker driver
manufacturers,
Most CD players and solid state amps need a 24-48 hours burn-in. No idea
about TP, but it should be about the same.

If after burn in you hear a diff , there IS one to YOU.

None, there isn't anything in the TP that requires burnin. Only your

Hey everyone,
I wanted to see if any of you have experienced any amount of audible
improvement as your transporter burns in with hours of use? If so, how
many hours until you feel that yours was totally burned in and
stabilized? I felt that the first 5-10 hours on mine was lacking bass
