There a review of a Musical Fidelity V-DAC II, which has a much touted
asynch USB interface, in this month's HiFi News. They measured 10psec
of jitter over s/pdif, but 60-90psec over USB - much worse. So asynch
USB doesn't seem necessarily to be the answer - it may be the better
than non-asynch US

USB doesn't need to be problematic at all. Actually the opposite is true
since it really transfers raw data. There are just a few gotchas:
You need a decent DAC design to shield against radiation noise. USB is
noisy and so are the machines you usually plug it into.
You need to have a good clock
Here's yet another question regarding digital audio:
At present there seems to be a huge focus on USB DACs, as in an
external DAC that accepts a USB input. It is my understanding that
between the three main types of digital connections available for
digital audio signals (Coaxial S/PDIF, toslink

isn't it TCP/IP from computer running SbS (or mysb.com) to SB Player.
"FROM" the SB player to internal SB Player DAC or external DAC would be
something else (S/PDIF, etc.)

Would not surprise me a bit :)
In Audiophile lore such DAC would have very "high resolution" making it
possible to hear differences between cables and digital sources i
There have been reports that the quality of the s/pdif output from the

Maybe someone has pictures.
I don't think differences in cables should be an issue with modern DACs
with good jitter rejection. Mayb

Thanks for your thoughtful response.
With respect to HDMI & USB cables versus coax cables perhaps I should
have phrased the question something like: Are there any differences

Sorry I already don't understand (nor believe) other articles about
jitter just know that some audiophiles care for this word

you really think you can defend your system by producing citations of
double-blind peer-reviewed trials showing the superiority of each
component in it to any cheaper alternatives?

? What's system cost got to do with this?

pervade the realm of audiophilia.
