One comment: There was NO bit-depth truncation (prior to SOX) - 24 bits were always respected from file through SC-SB-DAC (although some external DACS would truncate!). The "DTS" test proves this. The introduction of SOX addressed high-quality downsampling, it didn't change the bit-depth handling
