They are - in fact the 640 is highly thought of in it's price range.
Personally I prefer the NAD sound, but I suspect I'm in the minority in
this forum.

Why amp? why not powered speakers? less parts.
And powered speakers can be designed so that amp matches the speaker
drivers' needs.

You may find that you would get a better opinion from another forum.
Most here might feel that posting in the audiophile section is a bit
rich.
On a positive side it appears that the Cambridges both have pre outs if
you want to keep your Arcam connected.
Use the cambridge with the arcam

Doesn't the sony have pre amp outputs that can feed the alpha?That would
give you the best of the alpha if the sony pre amp is OK

at that price i sincerely doubt it. to get good stereo performance
through an av amp you need to spend quite a lot >£500 at least. I've
got an Onkyo 805 and I believe the stereo performance is quite good but
the amp is pricey.
