I definitely plan to do the upgrade but will wait until their results
are posted before buying. Besides, the way RAM prices are dropping, it
may be almost free by then!

I upgraded from 256 to 512 MB, no
the memory testing will be because of the internal re-design of the
unit, previously the X6/600 used regular sixed DIMM modules

yeah the new one defaults to stats off.
im comparing speed and usability to an itunes/ winamp experience.
its lightyears better than changing cds, but there is always room for
improvement.
I guess i should mention that my nas is not just a music server, so
some of the lag could be attributed to o
I just installed m new X6 and the Infrant version of SS. It appears
that they have now set the default to have library statistics off.

I have 400Gb of flacs as well and a set up very similar to the one
listed above.
TURN OFF THE LIBRARY STATISTICS! This option is *only* available in
the infrant version of slimserver (under server settings->performance).
99% of operations should be every bit as good as with a dedicated
server, t

speed of SS on the X6, maybe they will help in your situation.
I could not find the link, but it dealt with turning of "statistics" in
SS. This option is ONLY in the Infrant version of SS. I have not yet
used it, so I cannot t
I have a ReadyNas 600 with 1.6 TB and find it to be extremely slow when
used with the Slimserver. I have roughly 400 GB of mainly FLAC music.
Scanning the music library can literally take all day and the Slimserver
is basically unusable during that time.
I am not convinced that the difficulties t

I thought it most likely was.
I've read some great things about Slimserver + the X6 and 600 on both
the Infrant and AVS Forum sites, looking forward to your post!

all sounds feasible:
i just got my 1 tb x6 friday.
so hopefully i'll be able to answer you questions soon.
i dont believe you can use the dailys, the slimserve on the ready nas
site is compiled especially for the ready nas.
