I don't disagree, however I feel more comfortable with the attenuators
since they are relatively cheap and a software glitch could be
uncomfortable. My redundant preamp vo

I'm curious to hear more about your approach to DRC, as I'm toying with
that idea as well.

OK - decision becoming harder! Would be great to find a solution that
keeps everything simple with all controls in one place and still
sounding great. The SB3 DAC has had good reviews elsewhere, maybe not

I am running the SB3 straight into my amp using some 10db Rothwell
attenuators to reduce the signal down. It works well, but I also use
the secondary volume control (or preamp

My squeezebox is old, so the Benchmark DAC-1 made a big difference.
It the DAC-1 isn't needed, there is still a market for them,
and an SB-3 is a ton cheaper
My power amp has no volume control. It is a plain power amp with no
controls. All the switching is done by my preamp. I want to bypass
the preamp and go straight to the power amp.
I understand that you can either use the digital volume control in the
SB2 to control the volume, and go straigh

Why add something to the signal chain?

I had the same dream, until I tried it... :(
I learned that I needed some kind of signal attenuation between my SB
and the power amps I was using. S/N of the SB goes to hell if you use
the digital volume control to reduce volume. I tried it, it was not
good with NuForce 9SE, not that they are ver

I use Odyssey Khartago monos with my SB3 and Vandersteen speakers.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Flicking through some other sites the
Channel Islands Audio D-200 monoblock amplifiers seem well regarded.
Another option is 1 or 2 Trio A-100 Power Amplifiers, which look the
part but not sure if anyone has tried them before. Anyone?

Thanks will do some more looking into both, though reading more about
the red wine audio product the battery power process may become
slightly tricky. Have also looked at the small cyrus power amps from
the uk which seem to have some good reviews over there.
Will let you know how it goes.

I thought the Sb3 was a good aesthetic match for my Harmon Kardon AVR
and DVD player, so you can check whether they do similar looking power
amps...

Thanks,
Have had a look, looks great and impressive review and price about
right. May take for a test run to see how it matches with the

Any other options out there to compare(thinking of a power amp with no
controls - using the SB3 for all volume adjustments).
