Whatever you all are smoking please pass I'm using an SB2 and realized no improvement to sound quality. However, I must admit I'm using the digital out to my DAC. Maybe you analog out folks noticed something -- Walleyefisher ---

Yes that's what I'm getting at - 6.5 seems to improve SB2/SB3 so much that if it had been available before its simultaneous release with the Transporter, then maybe some Transporter customers might have had second thoughts? But probably not because the Transporter is so much more versatile, and vi

The cynic in me might suggest that the acclaimed sound quality of the Transporter may be due as much to 6.5.0, as due to the circuit design of the Transporter itself ;-) It would be interesting to compare a SB2/3 powered by a linear power supply, with a Transporter, both running SlimServer 6.5.0.

I notice it too! My Transporter currently consists of parts in a bin somewhere in Slim Devices' Mountain View world headquarters :-) , so I'm in preparation mode...Earlier experiments showed that my Marantz SR8400 muddies up analog sources, yet I'll be damned if I'm going to waste the Transporter

I noticed it. The SB3 in the bedroom uses the analog outs to an Aego2 powered sub/sat. It sounded cleaner after the upgrade to firmware 64. I tend to keep the volume on this player quite low, so it's likely the bug was introducing noise. I also like the 100-step volume better than the 40-step.

There was a bug where the volume adjustment in the SB caused distortion unless it was set at max or near max. That bug has been fixed (it was a change to the multiplication algoritm for controlling volume). Maybe that's what you have discovered. I think the fix was in the SB firmware, not slims

I have always had the SB volume set to max, so I don't think that is the reason. -- afblaster afblaster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1643 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth
