The outdoor speakers and environment may not allow you to hear the finer
details and resolution provided by the Transporter. In your case the SB3
is plenty good!

I'm not sure that's a good reason to be surprised... I think these
chips cost $10 or so. I'm sure in a $2000 product Sean used the one

I've actually been really suprised at how close it is between the

Allow me to re-phrase the question slightly:
Is the Transporter as digital out bett
What are you using as a transport right now? The Transporter is a
significant upgrade over the stock SB3 as a transport. I'm using mine
primarily as a transport with my Dodson DAC...

It's not bad - but I owned a CDX, then a CDX with the XPS external

cheaper DAC1 (used with a variety of cheap CD players and now with the
SB3).

Question for SD:
I would like to output the Transporter's digital output to a digital
processor (DRC), and loop it back in to the Transporter's digital input
in order to make use of the built in DAC. (I.e listen to the digital in,
while feeding the network music to the digital out.) Is that possib

The problem here is sound quality is not on a linear scale. Further it
gets exponetially expensive to move closer to the original sound of the
instruments (say a piano) heard in an optimum
Currently I listen to a music stream from my SB2 fed into a Onkyo
TX-NR801 . How much better can it
get with Transporter ? Looking at the price tag
and realizing there is a 1 before the 999 , can it be almost ten times
better ?

John,
Yes, I'm a "no BS" person and that's intended to carry through 100% in
this design.
While a few things in transporter were done strictly for aesthetic
flair, the use of thin film resistors, gold plating etc have proven
advantages regardless of whether I can personally hear each of those
