arge, As an aside, can you point me to any good links on bi-amping? I'm unclear on the practicalities on matching speaker sensitivity and the amplifier gain structure. Can this be compensated digitally or do you add resistors to the signal path or just select the amps very carefully? -- ianwi

After tinkering with DIY loudspeakers for 20 years I am now convinced that active crossover and bi/tri amping is the way to go to get the most out of your loudspeakers (usually the weak link). Here are the reasons for active crossover/tri amping: 1) Removing the passive crossover between amp and

Well, I'm actually thinking through about three different solutions. 1) Just buy the DEQX PDC2.6P Hard to justify the expense but it sounds like a great integrated solution. Would hook the Squeezebox up via SPDIF. I am concerned that this would introduce jitter though. I sent email to DEQX enqui

You are right but that's not the project. You can use the digital out from the SB and send it to the DCX2496 which will divide the frequencies and output six analogue channels (3xstereo). The DCX is used as a crossover and a DAC. I'm using it this way. BTW : 1 the stock DCX is rather ordinary but

You are absolutely right. You normally need some form of volume control when using a DCX crossover. Search on the internet, a lot of solution but not very easy. There is a yahoo forum: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/DCX2496/ One of the easiest solutions are the attenuators at the analogue ou
