I second the Beresford DAC and SB3, i am very happy with combo.
i find saturday morning is the best time for mojo ! while shes out
shopping.

I bought the Shek (d2) and I think it's much better than the stock SB3 -
but still not good enough. I now have an SB+, which is. If you want to
continue on the budget route, I hear lots of good things about the
Beresford DAC, but have not heard one myself. I suspect, caveat

So why not try the behringer src2496 approx £90 ...
you will need to do a few simple mods to squeeze the best from it
...swap the rectifier diodes for schottky's and bump up the smoothing
caps to 105 deg types ie the pannasonic fc's
