Hi SC53. I never heard of Electrocompaniet before. Did you audition it
before you bought it? If so where? I can't find any dealers in the
Northeast that carries them. How does it compare to the Benchmark?

Hi Duke, in your quest for a "warmer" external DAC try to find a used

better than the Benchmark DAC I also have for its (to me) more lush,

remastered CDs, sound terrible. I have just recently been getting
serious about this hobby (
Hi Anne. The Apollo uses a Wolfson WM8740 sigma-delta converter.

Hi Dave. Have you compared the Krell to the MC402 yet? When I bought my
amp the KAV-2250 was on my short list. I chose the Classe CA-2100
because I thought it had a smoother sound with my Thiel speakers. I
never got to listen to a McIntosh.

Do all the Squeezebox compatible

Hi ModelCitizen. Thanks. I would like to try a Transporter, but I dont
see how I can borrow one for a couple of days. I really dont want to
buy one and return it just to try it out. The audio store didnt have
any other DACs that were in my price range. The Mark Levinson was on
consignment for $
Lots of users claim increased performance losing the preamp, but I
cant live without it.

That's great. Very interesting. Well done.
It'd be interesting to hear your thoughts about the Transporter too.

great piece of gear. I have been using its analog output connected to
my preamp, and I noticed it didnt sound quite as good as my CD player,
so I began investigating the possibility of using an external DAC. My
