Thanks for the responses (well, the more constructive ones :-) ). I think I'd have to rule out something like the Krell though as we'll need lots of inputs. (Well, "need" is a strong word; but even though I suspect I haven't used it in years, I'd still like the option of an input for my Rega 2.

I was going to suggest that you try a tube amp, but I don't know what's a good buy in the UK. Otherwise I'd suggest trying a Rogue Atlas. Still, the price seems reasonable considering the importers take and VAT, £1389.37 from Stone Audio vs. $1,595 from Rogue. -- Daverz --

After 18 years, I think it's finally time to lay my old amp to rest. It's an Arcam Delta 290, paired with a 290P, bi-amping Mission 751 speakers (which are of a similar age). When it sounds good, I still love it; unfortunately, the selector knob is starting to go, and it's getting more and more d
