I recently got a Musical Fidelity M6i to go with my Transporter and
Revel F32 speakers. Loving it.

I also have a mac mini attached for watching movies on my projector.
Downmixing surround to stereo is hit or mis, but it sounds great
Well, we've had the Cyrus for nearly three weeks now, and love it! Every
day we'll rediscover some piece of music anew, finding details we'd not
really noticed before. I was pretty happy with the Arcams, but the
Cyrus is something else... I remember the wonderful change in quality

Well, we had a listen to several amps at Sevenoaks (nee Audio-T). First
was the Arcam FMJ A38. It got off to a bad start: we thought that
Elbow's The Birds was a bit too muddy, and our existing system sounded
better. Other discs fared better, especially Shostakovich's 10th
symphony, where we were

Thanks for the responses (well, the more constructive ones :-) ).
I think I'd have to rule out something like the Krell though as we'll
need lots of inputs. (Well, "need" is a strong word; but even though I
suspect I haven't used it in years, I'd still like the option of an
input for my Rega 2.

It was not a personal attack, so I'll give your instruction a miss,
thank you.
But, how can a sound be transparent?
I recently picked one of these up, not sure if it fits your bill but it
might, and it's well under your budget:

Integrated 2 channel preamp. 1 set of Balanced inputs. And it's best
feature is theater bypass mode, which basically switches it into amp
mode on

preferences. If I'm to take this as a personal attack, then please go
fuck yourself.

The OP mentioned a price range of £2500 (that's nearly $4000).
And, yeah, it's definitely relative. There are 'philes who look down
their noses at such "budget" gear.

You seem to have little to offer but sniping.
. I'm quite aware of the technical faults of tubes. And I've
had several SS amps at various price levels: a Bryston B-60

I don't think balanced will make a huge difference unless you are
running dozens of meters between the pre and amp.
More likely the quality of the goods will make a difference. Bryston

Both have been serviced, a few years
Have you considered Active Speakers / Monitors ( and possibly an active
subwoofer) for a 2.1 system. Something like

Are any of their dealers (http://avihifi.co.uk/contact.html ) near
enough to you for a demo? Or contact the manufacturers di

After 18 years, I think it's finally time to lay my old amp to rest.
It's an Arcam Delta 290, paired with a 290P, bi-amping Mission 751

When it sounds good, I still love it; unfortunately, the selector knob
is starting to go, and it's getting more and more d
