Hi Again
"Default adjustment for remote streams" set to 0.
This might do it I cannot with certainty say there is a difference
in SPL as I could before.
It would be nice if others could confirm by doing the little track test
as I did.

I may be wrong but I believe there may be more than one master for this.
Something in he back of my mind makes me think there was a remaster.
I've just taken a quick

The track "Let It Rain". After 2:37 minutes and the next 5 seconds, it's
easy to hear a difference in SPL in the bass. (To hear that, your gear
must be able to delive
Patricia Barber - Companion (from 1999). I will test if there is any
diff. between local FLAC versus WiMP FLAC.

Yes i Will probably at some piont in the near future try wimp . Don't
get me wrong i do like the idea .
Spotify is far from perfect so maybe the completion offers a better
overall experience .
But HIFI branded streaming it would take more then just flac files to
get it rigth .
But let's here f

I don't use replay-gain (although my files are tagged). Not sure how it
works with streaming and replay-gain client-side. Of course it could be
that (as you indicate Mnyb) replay-gain is applied server side. The test
you suggest should give some hints - will look into it...
But good ideas.

Good question. My first reaction is "no, how could there be...too much
trouble". Bu
An interesting test would be to test a record known to be hdcd if you
have a hdcd capable DAC .
( but these are getting a bit old fashioned ) .
Re suggestions of volume adjustment or compression , does everything
sound at the same level when building a wimp hifi playlist ? Or are the
level differ

I'm pretty sure some of the WiMP flacs are different from my/the
CD-version. As to how this could be, I think you gave a fairly good
summary. Would be nice to have the opinions of others who could for
example have another "pressing" of The Man in Black, if such exists. So
I think you kind of gave

I'm not in a country that can access wimp. But if they are truly
streaming FLAC files, why should there be any difference. Yes, there are
different masterings of albums

No takers? Anyone else tried the comparison with anything else? Should
be interesting
OK thanks to you both.

Music rights all differ by country. Same sort of country restrictions on
pandora, spotify, etc. really a mess in an interconnected world.

Its unfortunate and I dont know any specifics, but suppose its due to
IPR on the material. The law has pehaps not followed the development in
technology. iTunes/Netflix/Rhapsody/Spotify/HBO/Pandora/Quobus/etc/etc
all have the same issues albeit dealt with in different ways.

Not sure where you are, but this will not work in the United States. The
countries it does work in will also require a paid subscription to WIMP.
