OK, I am putting
;; -*-coding: utf-8;-*-
at the top of ~/.bbdb .
Will that ensure that no matter what wacky headers somebody sends me,
~/.bbdb's coding won't get hijacked again, forcing me to have to dig it
out of backups?

No more message of .bbdb doom:
  These default coding systems were tried: ...
  However, none of them safely encodes the target text.
  Select one of the following safe coding systems: ...
I.e., prepare to dig your .bbdb out of backups Holmes, the damage is
already done. Muhahah.
