Hi again,
I'm building XMMS on an amd64.
I have ALSA, aRts and EsounD installed, and am running KDE, where all the
system sounds are working just fine.
I've (apparently) successfully compiled XMMS, but I cannot play any files
in it. When I go to the preferences, the input plugins listed are: Tone
Hi all,
I'm running a pure-64 LFS system, with libraries in lib64.
I've built a 32-bit toolchain in /opt/i686 so I can build things like GRUB.
The toolchain has been adjusted to the resulting binaries link to
/opt/i686/lib/ld-linux.so.2
Problem comes when I want to run the precompiled OpenOffice.

And there's the culprit.
OpenOffice ships as a 32-bit binary, an
Thanks, Declan!
It works great.
Now I can upgrade packages by just changing their version numbers in
versions.make, and rebuild the system overnight.
How's that for living on the bleeding edge? ;)

Hi,
I'm trying to install OpenOffice.org 1.1.4 on my amd64 system, as it's a
lot easier than trying to compile it right now (I'll do it eventually, I
promise :)
Problem is, I run into the following, which I cannot explain:

Hi,
I'm trying to build RPM on my LFS system (v6.1, mostly). I need RPM to be
able to install the OpenOffice.org RPMs, as it seems impossible to build
them for x86_64 right now.
I've been following Jim Gifford's hint, but run into an error.
I've built beecrypt and neon, just for kicks, even thou

Hi all,
I need some advice from more experienced LFS'ers.
Right now, I build my LFS systems (all two of them) by a customized
scripted build, which makes it easy to upgrade packages whenever a new
kernel, glibc, gcc, etc. comes out.
When the build is over, it puts a S99firstboot symlink in rc3.d
Hi,
My gaim IM windows seem to be missing the smiley pulldowns.
And when I type a smiley, I don't get an actual icon, like I get in my FC4
build of gaim.
What have they built against, or compiled in, that I haven't?
I've built everything in the README, namely:
gtk 2.8.3
gtkspell
libao
libaudiofil
Solved my problem, so I will post it here for the masses.
Problem was, the fonts were not being placed in the same directory that X
thought they were.
When I ran 'X -configure', the xorg.conf.new it produced pointed fonts to
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/... when they were in fact at
/usr/X11R6/lib64/f
