The only way to fix this is to disable unredirect_fullscreen_windows but
last time I checked doing so results in a large performance penalty on
everything except nvidia cards. Perhaps that is not the case anymore now
that so much has changed in the intel driver.

I agree with Chris Balcum, so far everything submitted to date with this
bug has been a workaround. and changing the window manager from compiz
to metacity makes no sense as a workaround, because if you didn't want
to run compiz you wouldn't be effected by the bug in the first place,

Attached is a patch to change the default animation for open from "Glide
1" to "Glide 2". I noticed that an earlier patch reset the open behavior
from Zoom to Glide 1.
This patch has to be applied after that one (01-animation-

It might be useful to add that the problems seem to be graphics card
agnostic as I have both an embedded (G35) intel machine and an nvidia
260gtx machine which are affected in the same manner.
