Found it! I removed my "Lock Screen" shortcut (Super + L) and it works. So this is still a bug. The bug is: If you use the Super key in your Gnome keyboard shortcuts, you cannot use the Super key in your Compiz shortcuts. This is obviously wrong. -- Super key not working unless shift pressed

I think the problem might be that you have a keyboard shortcut assigned directly to the super key. In my case I accidently assigned mute to the the super key under system > preferences > keyboard shortcuts. Check to see that you don't have anything assigned to super. Let me know if this helps! Ken
