What happens when using ccsm to configure Button5 and Button4 is that the map ~/.gconf/apps/compiz/plugins/vpswitch is deleted! I guess this is the reason why those two buttons then become inactivated. The workaround using gconf-editor to set Button5 and Button4 works for me too. -- ability to r
