This was a bug in the intel driver fixed recently. With up-to-date
karmic you should not see this problem anymore.

It seems to me to be the same so I marked it as a duplicate. Here is a
quick repeat of the explanation how to workaround the issue:
1. Try to figure out if your screen is locked by moving the cursor across the
screen and watching it shape - if the screen is locked you should get an I-Beam
cursor
