I have tested the following drive, and it supports CD-TEXT with
generic-mmc. But it is not present in the cdrdao database currently.
Please feel free to update.
$ wodim -atip

Device type: Removable CD-ROM
Version: 5
Response Format: 2
Capab
Package: cdrdao
Version: 1:1.2.3-0.2
The only information we get from the manpages is that for the tocfile,
the language code of English is 9. The numbers of other languages are
not available, making the feature useless.

When trying to make tags having names like José (resp. François), the
input is truncated at "é" (resp. transformed to "Francois"). For
example, after
lame --id3v2-utf16 --tt "José" input.wav output.mp3
just "Jos" is stored in output.mp3.

Changing /etc/gdm3/greeter.gsettings also works on another computer.

This time it's your mistake, my friend.
The file /etc/gdm3/greeter.gconf.defaults is not present on my system.
However, /etc/gdm3/greeter.gconf-defaults is present.
The corrected suggestion of Josselin for completely removing the
background worked on at least one computer.
