I let apt remove atlas and install lapack and blas in replacement: apt-get remove libatlas3gf-base and it works. Here is what /proc/cpuinfo (knowing that I run linux-image-2.6.39-2-686-pae) tells me: processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 8
