Did you already build the package yourself and made sure, that those patches are really fixing the issue and not introduce new issues? The proper solution is to extract the one or two commits that are fixing the issue, I can do a update of the version in bookworm with those patches. Without that I would need to convince the release team why they should allow to push all changed of 3.7.4 to stable. Do you can help here? bookworm-backports is not an option, as backports need to have the same version that is in testing/unstable. So that would mean to package 3.16.4 for bookworm.
