one very useful feature of gcc is, that it warns you when you produce
unterminated strings by using too long initialisers. Unfortunately
the warning only kicks in, if the initialiser is at least two bytes

I suggest to simply close bug #119952 and friends. It is tagged
wontfix and you won't get many new copies, because gcc-3.0 becomes out
of fashion, now.

after some discussion with Florian Weimer I came
to the conclusion, that my complaint may not make
sense. Does it?
Maybe the package description should nevertheless
be changed to something like "The GNU stdc++
library version 3.1" or "The GNU stdc++ library
for gcc-3.1".
