Package: gcc
Version 2.95.4
Arch: alpha

gcc bug pr9164 is present in stable. since all the packages are
compiled with it, it is promoting the general overal hosedness of stable
on alpha. It is also preventing me from compiling 2.6 properly.

read this: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=220732

That pretty much explains everything we found, and how we found it

Perhaps using the gcc 2.96 that rh 7.2 is using on alpha, or adding the
proper patch to gcc and compiling it with a non-broken compiler would be
a good fix?
However it is done, this package really needs to be fixed. As it sits it
makes stable suck like a small tornado on Alpha.

I'm using debian 3.0 stable on Alpha with 2.4.19, and the stock glibc.
