Where did you find something that claimed the bootstrap had to
be partition 2?
From the mac-fdisk doumentation.
And also from "Installing Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 For PowerPC" version
3.0.24 24 May 2002.

I set up Woody on my 9600/300 this weekend.

OK so I am not trying to run debian on a Macintosh... I am however,
trying to get a cross-compiling tool chain together. My host is a

I'm back. I apt-update yesterday crolssing my fingers and hoping for a ppc kde
3.0.2 version.
Nothing. Instead an updated qt 3.0.5 version... but new version old problems!
So probably we could try to compile the brand new 3.0.3 kde.
I've downloaded the tarballs from kde.us.themoes.org/pub/kde/stab

Chris,
I do insert the floppy before booting, but it goes unrecognized
unless I use the cmd-opt-p-r key combination after the reboot chord.
It would be normal to expect it to eject a non-bootable disk, but
I've never seen the machine eject the disk except as part of the net
install procedure

my boss told me that christmas is comming now, I can order a new bi G4.

I think I will order the following:

1Gb SDRAM
2 UltraSCSI 72 Gb
ATI Radeon 9000
SCSI card

no, I've not been hacking. I did upload sources for testing which

Carlos,
I'm pretty sure a stock 8500 can only use the framebuffer driver. The 8500
doesn't have an actual video card. It is possible to use a video card in an
8500, but if you're using the built-in video you have to use FBDev.

Hmm...but dpkg still Pre-Depends on dselect, so unless Joss hacked his
dpkg package, something is screwy...
