Nobuaki Sukegawa created THRIFT-3295: ----------------------------------------
Summary: C# library does not build on Mono 4.0.2.5 or later Key: THRIFT-3295 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/THRIFT-3295 Project: Thrift Issue Type: Bug Components: Build Process, C# - Library Reporter: Nobuaki Sukegawa Mono C# compiler gmcs has been available as backward compatibility script for years. http://www.mono-project.com/docs/about-mono/languages/csharp/ {quote} Starting with Mono version 2.11 a new unified compiler mcs is available. It replaces all previous runtime specific compilers (gmcs, dmcs, smcs). They still exist (as scripts only) to ease the migration path to mcs but we strongly recommend to use mcs. {quote} But Mono 4.0.2.5 and later no longer ships with it. https://github.com/mono/mono/commit/b304ec5e0e694ef7098e0fc3eba9dbc0162f4568 This makes it impossible to build Thrift C# library on modern Mono. The patch does the following * check mono version and availability of mcs executable * if mono >= 2.11 and mcs is there, use mcs * if not, use gmcs and nothing changes as before -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.3.4#6332)
