I have found the place that will suit - not too quiet not too noisy. We can

Hello ,
Will there be an e-smith patch for this ???
Weakness Found in OpenSSL PRNG Algorithm
Summary
The pseudo-random number generator (PRNG) in SSLeay/OpenSSL versions
up to 0.9.6a is weakened by a design error. Knowing the output of
specific PRNG requests (including a number of consecutive v

Is there anything available for port forwarding with ES?
I have an NT 4.0 server inside the network. The ES is my gateway. How can
I forward port 80 requests to the Internal server.
Is it only in my masq? 4.1.2 already has port forwarding software
installed.

Glad it helped... I do hope you caught my little error in typing:

Hi Dan,
Ok. I like solution number 1. It addresses all of my concerns.

... could you please just cc "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"? It then
lands in a different mail folder and I can make sure that I add it
to the list of HOWTOs up on e-smith.org.
Many thanks... and it's been *great* to see the HOWTOs coming in
recently!
Thanks,

Eric,
To send mail/set up website,
It's really helpful if you have a static IP.
1. you need a domain name
2. you need DNS records MX & A set up.
3. you need to know your static IP address of the Esmith box.
And just because you can reach a box via IP address doesn't mean you are
stealthy. Tru

(laughing) Hey, *we* didn't come up with the acronym... someone
here on the list coined it and started using it here!

See the manual for pointers at:
http://www.e-smith.org/docs/manual/4.1/admin-remoteaccess.html#SSH
which has a section 9.2.1.1 on ssh for for Windows and Mac clients.
It references OpenSSH and the page there:

Allen:
Thanks for your suggestions.
I fear I was not clear enough in my original post:
I don't want dynamic DNS service... this box is to
remain "hidden" from name services to the outside
world... it's a "home" service so it's just being
used for it's gateway and internal server properties.

Ross already provided answers... but I thought I would just add that the
FAQ he mentioned:
search for the dynamic dns threads that are available. they detail how to do
what you are after. your "new" real domain becomes mongo.dyndns.org, or some
such. it works fine, but it does requires some reading of the previously
posted stuff.

I've set up an e-smith "box" and it works just
great... except for email.
One problem appears to be the network setup. I use a
cable modem so the "real domain" that the e-smith
set-up asks for would be "home.com"? Actually since
there is a hub and (some) other computers behind it, I

Hi Steve,
I just wanted to say thanks for that helpful hint!
It probably saved me a lot of time tonight while setting up a new server
(E60) under time pressure.
