Any beta testers out there? I'm still interested in hearing reports if
this works. I've tested on an APC BackUPS Office 350. This uses a
simple cable. I'd like to hear results from anyone testing with any of
the APC SmartUPS line.
Of course the real test is to pull_the_UPS_power_cord and

Nope, I thought it best to leave the author's rpm untouched. This sh

i had the same problem 2 days ago ! The crond stopped working.
Check the logfile /var/log/cron for calls to /etc/startmail. You can
restart crond with the command /etc/rc.d/init.d/crond restart
Hope this helps

Following is the Samba add user fragment for Darrel's "fragments" rpm. I'm
curious if anyone has actually gotten this to work. I've been messing with
it the better part of the morning with no luck. It appears, from viewing
the Samba log files on my machine, that Samba is having a hard time

the problem is that my client (netscape mail) suddenly stopped
downloading mail from the e-smith server, although mail can be sent, and
all other services are working fine! I have already rebooted the client
machine. I dont particularly want to reboot the e-smith server...so Is

is it easily possible to restart fetchmail (e-smith 4.1.2) without
rebooting?

e-smith-transproxy-0.3-1.noarch.rpm, from Charlie Brady (I think, found in
his contrib directory) has a small problem with additional networks on SME
5.
I had to change 35transproxy, line 21 and 26, key becomes network.
Should I make a new rpm available or is Charlie "maintaining" this ?

You can find it in my temporary download area:

The rpm has been built from the RH7.0 srpm on a RedHat 7.1 and tested on
various RH 7.1 system and one SME5 serv
Is this the case for the back UPS (Dumb Serial) models as well?
As the ones I have tested, Back UPS Pro 420 SI's. Do constantly restart as
the power comes back on. However I have not kept the test up to the point
where the UPS is low on power.
Cheers,
Richard.

I would suggest against "Staying up as long as possible".
Unless you own a massive UPS designed for that - I prefer the total shutdown
in 2-5 minutes.
My rationale.
You stay on for ages (~30 mins) on your little AUD$500 UPS.
Power drains out - system shuts down. Good.
Mains power comes back
