I've been following this thread. What I'm hearing is this:

With all due respect, in this instance I have to disagree with Mitel's
position. This was not simply a bug report of the form "I tried this,

Ok.. my perl skill really bites.
LocalDomainPrefix has nothing to do with LocalIP or any IP for that matter.
It is related to the domain. It is used in conjuction with DomainName and
SystemName to create the FQDN of the server. This is:
$SystemName.$LocalDomainPrefix$DomainName
So, for example:

I'd opt for e, that being...
Provide the capability to do _either_ a or b (basically an option c but with
selectivity.) Or, do one or both components of d. The idea being the ability
to selectively monitor the inside and/or the outside traffic.

Also, it is somewhat easier to effect the changes using:
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save
reboot
rather than the long series of expand-template commands.
ld require yet
another config file setting.

That is what I'd prefer. It would get confusing keeping track of the

True enough, but then how much larger do we really expect an appliance-style
server such as e-smith to get? Maybe if the good people at e-smith lose
their marbles
The only time I've seen this is when I'm manually (or via some means other
than e-smith's cron task) launching either /etc/startmail or /etc/fetchmail.
If I've done this and the cron task happens to fire off before the manual
task is complete, I'll get such a message. I will also see the message i

Automatic is fine... when it works. As we all know, though, pothing's

I think Darrell is hinting toward something interesting -- a package of
low-level admin tools that can do things the "normal" e-smith console/web
manager panels cannot. Perhaps not a part of the standard e-smith distro

Didn't see this until now (been away and very busy.) I've seen a number of
not only switches but also hubs that will "lock up" if other parts of the
network lose power. Or sometimes even if not! You'll see a link light and
all, but no activity or only TX activity.
Whenever I've had a working netw
