That's great news! I thought about doing that myself, but quickly realized
it was a project beyond my available time and abilities.

Is a List/Detail pattern out of the question? Do users really need to see
*every* bit of data in the table, or could the more lengthy, less commonly
used elements live in a detail panel below?

Thanks Karen, I hadn't heard of Fanurio. It does indeed look like it covers
the bases, so I'll give it a try.
Who knew there were so many ways to track your time and bill?

Agreed Santiago. In my experience with novice users, they almost always get
the meaning of Boolean operators exactly wrong. They tend to think of it
like they would speak it: "I want Red and Blue", meaning they want all the
Red and all the Blue, not things that are both Red and Blue.

oach. It was a bit slow, but pretty simple.
Like I said, it's a great topic.

Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for the tip - it wasn't really even on my radar. When I looked at the
time video, it seemed like you have to do a lot of clicking around to enter
some time. And I wasn't really clear if the "module" part was required or
not - it just seems like an extra layer of categorization I
I'm neck-deep in looking at various options for doing basic time tracking
and invoicing just for me, not a whole agency. I've wasted a ton of time on
this and figured I'd tap the collective wisdom here.

For me a winning feature in FW is the ability to create symbols. It isn't
hugely intuitive on how to create them, but once you have they're really
nice as you can create, for example, a radiobutton symbol with a label. Once
you add the symbol to your document you open up the symbol properties and

Good point on keeping the document up to date as development is ongoing.
This is something I struggle with doing consistently. You know the drill, a
developer comes up and asks about what the app should do in a particular
corner case, or can't implement something exactly as designed, and you talk

Hi - I've been lurking here, but this is too good a discussion to pass up.
One audience for documentation that hasn't been mentioned is the QA group.
As much as the developers, they need enough detail to develop test plans and
make sure the app works as designed.
