PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION: Sketching is a well established aspect of design,
for generating and exploring ideas and alternatives. Designers of all
varieties use sketches to refine their work, and to communicate with clients
and users when words alone are not enough. Interaction designers need to
sketch not only the appearance of the artefacts being designed, but also
their behaviour--how they will be experienced in use. This talk will look at
various techniques for exploring design requirements and reflect on how the
activity of sketching can be stretched beyond pencil and paper.
