The sb3 are shipped with a switching power supply just like all
previous models.
And being external it does not add to the heat generated in the unit
itself.

My Squeezebox did exactly the same thing after only one week. I have
since had mine replaced.

The issue is NOT that it's getting to warm, but that these particular
displays are not functioning within their specified temp range. If you
encounter this problem we will swap it out - it does not seem to be
widespread. We have the display vendor looking into it.

Nope, no obvious ventilation - it's all enclosed and pretty solid. Mine
seems to get hot in the top half of the unit - around the display...

I hadn't noticed it before, but now that I look at the SB3 photos... Is
there _any_ type of ventilation in the SB3 case? And having never seen
one, I'm guessing that the internal volume of the case is a bit less

I can confirm that...
I have ramped down the display brightness (from 4 to 3) and the room is
a little cooler than previously. The device doesn't seem to be as warm
and, importantly, has functioned without loss of display all day.
I guess there must be a threshold temperature that causes a malfu
This screen issue does seem to be heat related. After leaving the unit
off for about 10 minutes, the display has restored itself. I'll repost

Hi,
my brother will bring me two sb3 on x-mas when he takes the long way
from california to germany to visit my family. I am now quite concerned
that importing these babies this way will bring me into serious trouble
when they have a production fault like in the situation described
above. Oh my go
Seems like this is a potential component fault issue.
I have noticed that my device does get a little hot when it is running.
It's in a room maintained at around 18-20 deg C and it's not placed
close to anything that generates any additional heat so I'm not
creating the problem. I think that the

I just had the same thing happen to me tonight. The center 3/4" or so
is completely dead. I'll drop a line to slim support for a
replacement.

It's back again after about an hour of playing so I guess it is a
