After some advice from Garey this last month, I thought I had my TR-4C
working properly, but it limped through Field Day. It is still not
working up to par and it looks like I'm going to have to go over the
whole thing to get it working properly again. This may be a fall
project, just too muc
same depth as the rest of the 4-Line,
it's just that the TR-4 is deeper than everything else! :-)
The C-4 IS a little shorter though.

I took the TR-4C back to my work bench and looked it over again out of
the case. Saw nothing, then I tried it on my spare AC4 (both AC4s have
been rebuilt btw) and found no issues, took it back to the shack and
tried it again and now all is functioning again. Have no idea.

Just an update on what I have found out. AADE does NOT have a display
that will work on the TR3/4/4C/etc., his will only work directly on the
"twins". Neil admitted this to me in an e-mail.

Not sure that will work, if memory servers, they may be different
threads. The original screw in feet of the AC-4 (shorter than the RV-4
feet, they were just half-rubber balls attached to screws) were to be
used to hold the AC-4 in the RV-4/RV-4C/MS-4 cases.

Just to be sure we are not diagnosing the wrong problem
here. When I say the S-meter goes up, it is really the entire
receiver that is affected, it's like a strong signal is being received
and nothing else can be heard.

How does the RV-4C affect the PTT circuit?
Here is my problem. When the RV-4C is not plugged in everything
works as expected, but I can't use my internal VFO at the moment (see
my other thread on the unstable VFO). With the RV-4C plugged in, all
I can get to work reliably is VOX, (don't want

The internal VFO is sometimes very unstable and sometimes cuts out
altogether, but other times it works fine. I am not sure it is any
tubes, since the RV-4C works fine, and I didn't thing transistors
