I ran into this same problem with 14.04 and 14.10. In 14.10, instead of
the usual symptom of no shutdown/restart pop up, it restarts the session
leaving me at the log in screen. I have to kill the cairo-dock-launcher-
API-daemon process in order to get the shutdown/restart dialog.

I'm running both Unity and Cinnamon in 14.04 with lightdm. That way
unity-greeter takes over on logout from both.
To get display power off to work on my desktop I added (username) and root to
lightwm in the /etc/group file.

The update manager icon appears in the dash taskbar but clicking the icon never
grings up the update manager window.
Plug-in in another screen make appears the window in the second screen.
This bug is not fixed
Looks like this is only to call the pre hijacked one if not on os, so
probably OK and similar probably should be done for all of these
hijacked functions. Lars, could you look?

Not sure if it's the underlying cause, but uninstalling my fglrx
packages, rebooting, then reinstalling them fixed the issue for me. (AMD
graphics driver for anyone not familiar)

We should at least consider to not show it at all on fullscreen video
playback (not to mention it uses the currently hardcoded shell rotation
so it comes up in portrait mode while playing video in landscape). pop-
over volume notification that you cant swipe away is one of the most
annoying things
You can't swipe it away on Windows Phone or iOS either. The difference
is that in Ubuntu, it is much bigger and completely opaque, which makes
it more obstructive.
If it was smaller and/or more transparent, and if it could be tapped
through (like Ubuntu notifications on the PC), maybe you wouldn't
