Nevermind, installing those packages does not fix the problem.
After a fresh boot, everything looks as expected. But after suspend the whole
wifi part of network-manager might be gone again. Reastarting the
network-manager service resets it.

Had the same problem, there was no wireless information at all.
Installing indicator-applet and indicator-network fixed it for me. I have no
idea if this is suppsed to not be installed.
