Hi, I am experiencing the same problem. I have upgraded to 13.10 from 13.04 and after I log in the top menu (status) bar displays the name of the current open application and rest is blank. So, if I have a terminal open it displays "Terminal" on left hand side and rest of menu bar is empty. For me
