Unfortunately the icon doesn't change when muting (it used to have a crossed
out speaker symbol).

The volume indicator used to have a function that allowed to change the
volume using the mousewheel by simply "hovering" over the indicator.
Rolling the wheel DOWN reduced the volume and vice versa.
Starting with saucy, this function is gone. I actually have to click on
