Madbiologist: thanks for clarifying. So I agree filing it as a new bug
would be good. I'm not an appropriate person to do that, since I'm
using Unity less and less, and even in the past I've only used LTS
releases. I hope someone will pick this up.

I am sorry for being unclear. I was referring to the entire edges of
the window, not just the lower right corner. I didn't use the word
"border" because now the area available for grabbing extends outside of
the admittedly narrow border. All window borders are now surrounded by

Madbiologist: you write "This bug is about the default resize grab

Can I gently suggest you read the title of this problem report?

@vedavata I imagine that it is because (according to comment #397 you
are using Xubuntu. This bug is about Unity, where it has been fixed.
If you have a problem on Xubuntu you should file a bug for that or
extend this bug to Xubuntu. I don't know what the appropriate package
on Xubuntu would be.

JohnWashington - This bug is about the default resize grab handle at
window borders being too small (1 pixel, or 4 pixels by some accounts)
to be easily usable. This has been fixed with the implementation of a
larger default resize grab handle (10 pixels I think). The mouse

Seth, when you say 'Fix Released', does this mean that in System
Settings there is now a means (using GUI tools only) for the user to
modify the border width?
Anything less than that is, to my mind, not a 'fix'. And I suspect many
others with hand/eye coordination problems would agree it's not a

Using Xubuntu here too. This bug makes it VERY hard to resize windows.
It is also very hard to resize other draggable items, such as bars
dividing panes inside windows.

I don't even accept that it's adequately fixed in Unity (unless there's
been significant progress since 14.04, for I only use LTS releases).

@Jeremy Huddleston, I see you are right, apologies (except that the fix
appeared only in Unity-3D, it was worse in Unity-2D than it was before
Unity-2D appeared). Does Xubuntu use Metacity? If not then my point is
still valid, that it would be best to file a new bug for Xubuntu if the

@colin-law no, this bug does not apply to Unity. This bug was filed
years before Unity even existed. If it is "fixed" by changing to Unity,
that's great for Unity users, but simply sweeping an issue under the rug
because you changed window systems doesn't change the fact the the bug

@vedavrata this bug applies to Unity, and is effectively closed. If you
are seeing a problem on Xubuntu then I suggest you file a new bug.

I tested 15.04 "Ubuntu MATE", "Lubuntu" and "Xubuntu"...
e.g.: the file managers:

* Lubuntu with PCManFM
* Ubuntu MATE with Caja
The problem with the small "resize area" exist on all :(
But the right/bottom area is big and good to grab on all three. (This is

Adding ubuntu-mate, as its window manager also suffers from 1-pixel wide
resize grab areas.
This is one of the most immediately frustrating issues of any window
manager, and it only gets worse as display pixel densities increase.

@Jluc I believe it has been long fixed and is not seen in 15.04 or
