The City of Austin is requesting applications to the Barton Springs Salamander Conservation Fund. We are looking to fund conservation and research projects on Barton Springs and/or Austin Blind salamanders, as well as their habitat and ecosystems (Barton Springs and the Barton Springs segment of the Edwards Aquifer). Some potential topics for funding include investigations of chloramine toxicity, aquifer ecology, salamander physiology, and microbiome investigations. Proposed projects may also include education and habitat restoration, as the scope is broad. Previous awards have ranged in size from $10,000 to $80,000. Please see the proposal guidelines for complete details and feel free to email if you have any questions. Proposals should be submitted to bs...@austintexas.gov by January 30th, 2019.
