Folks:
It appears that my error in cutting the backlights for the K1 LED was NOT
limited to a single LED backlight... I apparently mis-measured all of them,
making each about 0.15" too long.
Though the linger backlight CAN be made to fit and work as-is, it's really
a bit too long to fit easi

Good Evening,
Heating season started today. Fifty-one degrees inside the house was
just a bit too cool for both of us. Plus the rainy season seems to have
started early. At least the little airshow in Hillsboro was fun. The

Sure, a 1:1 choke balun can be made with twinlead as well as coax feedline.

I am building K2 #4766 slow and easy. I am putting all the Unmodules as I
go. The Unmodules' instructions leave little chance for error and look very
professional on the RF board.
The quality of the boards, parts and instructions is outstanding!! I
suggest all builders install the Unmodules

I asked him whether or not he used a balun, and he said no,
he just fed it directly into the radio. I suppose his
antenna could be fairly well-balanced or that the KX1 is
able to tolerate a fair amount of imbalance.
Hi Dan,
I always feed my KX1/K2 direct with a 66' doublet without a balun,

Hi
That depends on the size battery you are going to charge. The VW panels were
designed to trickle charge a car battery and will output up to about 170 ma.
This current is low enough that it will not overcharge a 30 to 100 amp hour
battery even if left on the battery for an extended time. The

Dan,
Here's another idea. Use a short length of coax like 1' or less of RG-58
or better RG-174, and put some ferrite beads around the coax to make a 1:1
balun. On the antenna side it is balanced, so solder this to the ladder
line. I hope you are at least using the small 300 ohm ladder lin

Let me build your radio. My rates are reasonable and you get a built
