You give your own answer. Embperl runs on the server side and JS on the
clientside, so you can't trigger any Embperl code with a JS event. The only
thing you can do is, to trigger a submit() with JS, which submits your
values to the server, where Embperl can handle them. On the other side you
can use Embperl to generate JS code.
