If you use linux with pppd, try to upgrade the second to the latest CVS
version. Read how to access it at www.samba.org/ppp. Latest version
contains my patch for radius module, which fixes very similar looking
bug.

It completely fixes the problem of authenticating with pppd against
freeradius using MSCHAPv2.
I sent this patch to one of the maintainers of the pppd and asked to
commit it to the source tree. Hope fixed pppd will be available for wide
public soon.
